Need some nightmare fuel? Here ya go. It's on the house.
I finally broke down and drew some Five Night's at Freddy's art.
Why?
Because I absolutely adore the depth that has been packed into such a deceptively simple game. Mr. Cawthon has my utmost respect due to his resourceful programming and great skill with indirect storytelling.
This style of artwork was much different than anything I have ever done before, just because I tend to avoid drawing robots/animatronics/mecha or anything mechanical. As such, I was a bit apprehensive to approach drawing in the FNAF style, but it turned out to be much more graspable than I imagined. The great thing about Mr. Cawthon's animatronics is the mixture of a stiff robotic skeleton and the gentle, almost organic curves of the suits. This contrast makes for some extra-entertaining sketching.
The character featured here is Shiiva the Striped Hyena, which is property of me. She is also featured here (in flesh-and-bones form): fav.me/d8iofr7
I decided to attempt to translate some of my own characters into the FNAF style just as an exercise, but I ended up liking it a lot more than anticipated. Look for more of these in the future!
Done on white printer paper with 0.7 graphite mechanical pencil.
Contrast adjusted in Photoshop CS4.
