So, funny story. Since the hype generated by the Majora's Mask edition of the New 3DS XL, people selling them for $1000 or more, microwaving them and putting them on ebay, I thought: Hey, the design is pretty cool, I guess if I found one for a reasonable price I'd buy one even though I don't mobile game much anymore...

I sort of gave up on that passing fancy long ago, but on my lunch break today I browsed some news channel and read an article describing how select Gamestops were receiving 4 units of these, today only, and how they were probably already sold out everywhere. I thought: Hmm, no one would ship 4 of these to Marshfield, Wisconsin. All we have here are bars and churches. lol, who would be so dumb?

Finally, out of curiosity, I called them and they told me they still had all 4. Mind blown. I asked them to hold one for me for a couple of hours (since I had, conveniently, a doctor's appointment scheduled today and planned to leave work early for that). What are the odds?

So I picked it up and it all went down as planned but on my way to the appointment I thought again: Wait, they still had the other three there. Man, I'd hate to ruin a few kids' birthdays or something but it'd be super funny to buy all of them and get a bunch of GameStop points I'll never use. Plus it'd be a total Scrooge McDucky thing to do, which would be a huge reduction in those Karma points I've been collecting (ahem...)

The plan was to keep one boxed for a few years and see how it values out after some time, and to sell the others. However, to my dismay, only one unit per customer!

So I lucked out and got one. If anyone is in the hunt for one of these the Marshfield, WI Gamestop still has 3 as of this posting lol

In all seriousness though, I just love it when something totally unplanned ends like this. I had to share.
