Okay first of all, I'm terribly sorry for being so inactive lately. I've been out of contact with lots of people, haven't uploaded anything and kept to myself, but things will soon get back to normal. I have had a huge project that I have been working on and it's almost finished, so you can look forward to that. :3
In the mean time, I came up with this little thing yesterday. I've really enjoyed playing Hotline Miami 2, even though it didn't manage to fulfill my expectations. And I really wanted to do some fanart for it. So I came up with this, featuring a mix of both my own character and the Tony character from the game, so that's why the huge scar and the scarred ear are on the other side of the head for once. :P
While drawing this I've listened to loads of tracks by Perturbator, an artist who's been doing some incredible music and has also contributed to the Hotline Miami 1 and 2 soundtracks. You can find an example of his music HERE.
So yeah, I'll be back soon with more exciting stuff soon. Take care everybody and enjoy!

Haha not at all, I've always been far too curious for my own good :) Nonetheless, I do look forward to finding out what its all been for :)
Btw, not usually a techno fan, but that music is pretty intense... Like Future Club, and Divide. Makes studying sound alot more epic than it actually is haha

I usually get frustrated pretty easily. I know I would never lay a finger on games like Dark Souls. But this, same as the first game, I really enjoyed, because it really doesn't give you any time to get angry since it basically just treats you as vulnerable as your enemies. Somehow I can really respect that design philosophy :D
I agree with your observation! I actually rarely enjoy games that have you as a superhuman murder machine while you combat much weaker enemies, this is about as balanced as it can get while still giving you a slight advantage (on a one vs one basis at least). The whole atmosphere definitely helps curb any potential frustration, like you mentioned, and maybe even that respawn is instant. Games that have to load after you die frustrate me so much. If you end up dying a lot in said game at least.

When I saw this pic, the first thing I thought about was Lazerhawk, Miami Nights '84, Perturbator, Mega Drive, Power Glove, and all these amazing Synthwave bands!
Then I read the description of the pic and read that you actually listened to that amazing stuff while drawing this. <3
I'm a huuuuge fan of that synthwave stuff for a long time and also of the art-style fitting to that theme, so that's why I friggin' love this picture! <3
I'm also a total 80's-freak in general. :D

Hah, that's awesome! :D And that music is indeed great. :3 I've been a big admirer of Blade Runner mainly with the synthesizer soundtrack by Vangelis and ever since I played Hotline Miami I really fell in love with that style and the music. I watched Drive because of that game, I started to listen to the soundtrack and it also attracted me to games who also adapted the 80s style, like Far Cry Blood Dragon which I loved, even though its effect wore off a little as the game dragged out. Or The Wolf Among Us, which features an amazing 80s film noir kind of atmosphere with the neon colors and the shady characters.
It really was a lot of fun to draw this, so I might do another one in this style someday. :3
