why not give stencyl a shot? that's what I've used with some of my projects, it uses a scratch-like coding system that leaves you with just the logic to work with rather than all the code syntax, and is open ended enough to do quite a bit!
Only thing is I'm not sure if it has been translated into any other languages yet.

What kinda game would it be? Ever worked in Unity? It's pretty easy to get into. I've actually almost graduated Game Design at school... so I'm not on Programmer grade, but we use Unity there. :P I learned some C# and a little Java in the process. I 'unno! Just thinking out loud, I guess. Give it a look sometime! You might like it. :P
