maybe the flask was on top of the box, or maybe not the only one in there helping move stuff around. "hey catch this!" oops or,
if it was in the box, the box is not tapped shut, it could still have fallen out, he tried to catch the lid shut with his chin but being too slow only managing to close the box lid
