Finally getting somewhere with my 3D printer.
A lot of strands and removing the support material messed up his back.. but it's a start.

Have you tried Daz3D?
It's kind of the successor for Poser and can export scenes as OBJ files. If you're on Windows 8.1 or later, you can use their free 3D Builder app to clean the OBJ, fix any errors and then emit it as an STL file which can be loaded by M3D's software.

The printer has a serious problem with the filament heater. It tends to slide up the filament nozzle and so the filament is either too cool or too hot. I'm trying to find a way to anchor the heater into one place, which should make it work much better. Also their software is pretty clumsy to use and makes really odd support material.
Unfortunately, they don't support direct GCode so I can't easily use other software with it.

Nice You will get better at it. had a 3D Persa Mendel since 2011 first print ended up like yours payed 375.00 for mine and assembled it looks like your carve/layer height is too High it has to be 0.1mm below your Nozzle width also measure your filament along a 30cm length and use the average as your filament width.
Their software is very limited - it doesn't offer any way to enter those kinds of parameters and they don't have any way to send GCode directly to the printer (or at all, really), so I can't use other software.
I'm reverse engineering their software and I'm planning on making a GCode server for it so I can do the kind of fine tuning you describe.
There's also a problem with the filament heater. It slides up and down the nozzle, which causes wildly inconsistent printing. Often I just end up with a pile of angel hair. I'm looking at disassembling it and anchoring it down at the right place.

$299 but it was a kickstarter... and of course, when you contribute, you don't know exactly what you'll get. We were told it would eventually support GCode directly and it might in the future, but right now it doesn't.
I was looking for a compact, portable system that used stock filaments and needed as little fiddling as possible. It's looking like the most recent firmware upgrade and the new version of their software has improved things a lot... we shall see.
I have it printing a model in PLA right now and so far, it looks fairly good.
