Gicandice felt happy. Very happy. She wasn't sure why as she skipped through the countryside. It was like there was a tune in her head she couldn't, and didn't want to, shake. The giant cat paused in her travels and looked around. She had nowhere important to go, so a little time out wouldn't hurt. Slowly she began to dance, expressing her simple joy at just being who she was. Gicandice spun and twirled, her arms flowing out and her tail coiling about gracefully. She hummed softly, giving her song voice.
Balia looked up from her realm as something tugged at her mind. The Weather Goddess glanced about, looking for the source, and soon spotted a giant cat. The feline was dancing, her movements pleasing to Balia. The Weather Goddess smiled, allowing her body to dissipate into a fine mist. She drifted over, hovering above the cat, watching.
Gicandice felt a small shiver run down her spine as she danced. A strong feeling of being watched overcame her. She paused for a moment to look around, checking to see if anyone was there. She was alone. With a shrug, the feline dismissed the feeling and continued to dance. She never noticed the gathering clouds overhead, or the fine mist that embraced her.
Balia chuckled softly, the sound rumbling like far distant thunder. The cat's dance was pleasing. She condensed her body slightly, taking on an invisible vapour form so that she may join in. The Weather Goddess timed her movements perfectly, partnering up with the cat. Together they danced through the countryside.
The clouds darkened and thunder rumbled far away, but Gicandice didn't care. She was having too much fun dancing, and though she hated water, she knew that the rainbows that would come after a storm were too beautiful to ignore. The first few drops of rain that hit her were cool and refreshing, despite the shudder of nervousness they sent through her.
Balia allowed her rains to fall, summoned by the rain-dance of the cat, and her own performance. The lands received their nourishment, and the Weather Goddess smiled at her dance partner. The cat was thoroughly drenched. Balia embraced the feline, her mists sucking the water away from the cat's fur, drying her. She spoke, her ethereal voice penetrating deep into the mortal woman's mind.
"You dance beautifully, Dear Heart. I am most pleased. Together we have replenished the earth."
She reached out a hand, spraying forth a special mist to catch the light, creating a rainbow of exquisite beauty.
"A gift for your troubles, Little One. Enjoy and know I shall always be watching should you wish to dance again."
With that, Balia drifted off, her eternal gaze drawn to distant lands.
Gicandice jumped when the voice spoke in her mind. Her fur was dry, and now a beautiful rainbow filled the sky. She clapped her hands and smiled. This was most unexpected, but very much appreciated. The giantess looked about, waving to whomever had spoken.
"You're welcome!" she called out. "Gicandice had lots of fun. Gicandice hopes you can dance with her again in the future."
Gicandice hugged herself, watching the rainbow until it faded away. It was the simple joys that made life worth living...
