OKAY SO HERE WE GO.

These are Chimynx. [Plural is same.]
They are a combination of two legendary creatures, the sphinx and the chimera. I know I cannot copyright those two things separately, nor can I copyright simply mixing the two. But please respect the fact that this is my version and head cannon of these and they are a closed species. ;v;
Chimynx are prominently female gender. It isn't unheard of for groups of female chimynx to form a pride, nominating usually the strongest or one with the rarest features as the Queen. They often form loving relationships with other females in their pride, as males are quite rare among this species with only 1/7 kits born male.

They function almost like an amazonian society. When a male is found, prides of chimynx will hold them captive for breeding purposes. Chimynx females will always have a female kit if they breed with anything other than a male chimynx. Though reproducing with a male chimynx does not always guarantee a male child, the chances are at least increased from 0% to 15-20%. For this reason males have developed an almost feminine curve to their bodies and are often found dressing/posing as female chimynx. [help raep]Woe be to him when any females find out though.

If a female chimynx finds a male of the species she is expected to share with her pride. If any find that one female is trying to hoard a male for herself, the female will be likely killed. Or will have her sexual organs mutilated by the pride's Queen to mark her as Undesirable and then she will be exhiled.

Personalities vary but almost all chimynx enjoy knowledge and gold/treasure/trinkets. Many become collectors of a specific type of thing, ie books, jewelry, idols ect. They tend to get particularly excited when someone wanders by that has new knowledge for them. They will often offer favours or treasure for information. But if it isn't something new, they will refuse compensation. They are always bound by their word, so a chimynx will never lie. It causes them incredible pain or sometimes even death to tell a lie. But they find ways to be very short or to only utter half truths and are manipulative. As many sphinx, some enjoy riddles or even just difficult questions and if the person can answer correctly they can choose to receive a gift from the chimynx or spend an evening being doted upon in her bed.

Face Features:
-Normally have a human face like a sphinx and lion ears.
-Have sharp feline fangs.
-Uncommon variations have a cat or goat nose and goat ears.
-Rare features are a mane or face fur of any kind and any type of horn. Horns can vary from ram horns to antlers to tiny nubs. They are considered exotic and highly desirable.

Tail Features:
All chimynx have snake tails, usually a generally harmless variety of snake. If a chimynx loses its snaketail they are considered weak and vulnerable and will be exhiled by their pride or used as a servant. Most normal snake tails possess a decent bite attack and almost all can perform a type of hypnotism. The bite of a her snake tail has a percent chance to absorb information from its victim.
-Rare variation found only in females is a venomous snake, such as a cobra or a viper. If this abnormality happens, they are always immune to their own snake-tail's venom. However, other chimynx are vulnerable.
-Rare variation found only in male chimynx is a very large constrictor snake, like an anaconda or python.

Wing Features:
Most female chimynx have soft feathery wings. They cannot be used for flight and can only be used to glide short distances if they start off from a decent height. Males do not ever have wings.
-Shoulders to mid back is common placement for wings.
-Hip wings are uncommon.
-No wings or bat like or any wings other than feather are rare.
-Large wings of any sort are fully capable of flight and are considered Legendary.

Hands & Feet:
-Human hands with claws are most common. They have a thick pad on the palm for gripping/climbing.
-Lion paws are not unheard of and are most common in males.
-Generally have small cat feet with a dew claw and they walk on their toes.
-Tiny hooves are an uncommon feature.
-Human feet are quite rare, bordering on legendary, as neither species retains this feature but there is a mix of human blood in the genes.
