Over many generations, the darkness grew stronger at the gates of Utopolis, yearning for the delicate balance that once held the world together. In the slums were the Carnies, living impoverished and destitute, their only meals coming in the form of the dead Praisers (cattle, prey, etc) on the higher tier of the city. On occassion, a member of the Carnies allowed to enter the city (those who can live off of poultry and fish) would come out with a cart of fresh meat. This young husky pup was one such volunteer, and soon became a ray of hope to the Carnies who grew tired of eating plants, which only heightened their insanity; he was also the fastest rogue in the city, able to outrun anyone quick enough to spot him.

One day he heard a dark voice that beckoned him to eat - for the first time in his life - red meat. Tasting the rich blood, he then made a contract with Envy, the entity of hatred and spite.

His only possession: a solitary knife that never grows dull, a gift from his father.
