Just finished version 2 of Rime's mock-up wings (V1 can be seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15408494/ ), and I really like how this one came out. It was based on this design (the one on the bottom): http://www.ornithopter.de/grafik/he.....og/faltung.gif but shaped as an albatross' wing. Here's an idea of how the full-size version will be, compared to my arm: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cisyy35mb.....ingoverlay.png
This mock-up pivots, flaps and folds up pretty much exactly how I want it to, using elastic straps, pins, magnets, wire and dowel rods. The frame that attaches to the arm (via straps, not shown), can either bend fully while held above the wing, or bend down in front of it, when the wing is folded up (as seen in the bottom pic). It folds up almost completely that way as well. And there are two magnets and two semi-circular wires hidden under the feathers, so that the pivoting part of the wing can still stay attached to the rest of the wing (in any semi-folded position) while sliding back and forth along the wire.
I went ahead and painted all the feathers and markings just to give the maker of the full-size wings an idea of how I would like them to look. The feathers will either be made of airbrushed, stiffened felt or craft foam, and the arm itself will be covered in a sleeve of airbrushed white fur. The pivoting part of the wing will be supported by a fishing rod or something similar that is flexible and lightweight, yet holds its curved shape, and I'll just move it manually, under the fur covering my wrist. Hope all that makes sense! :)

Aww...if you follow the design of that frame I linked to, it's not so difficult! :) There's also these, if you want moving feathers:
