Bears were always a gray area in Utopolis. While vicious, they were also quite calm, and they could live off fish and some plants. One particular, a prodigy blacksmith, took over the shop after his father passed away, running it with his older brother.
One day, a rich geezer came by to commission a complicated piece. Of course, the bear didn't mind such a task, but when the haggling process began, tempers began to flair. The geezer wanted a lower and lower price, even so much as to insult the bear's intelligence and judgment. Blinded with rage, the boy struck the client with his hammer and almost killed him. When the client recovered, he couldn't remember why he entered the smithy or why he had such a pounding headache. After a quick lie and some water, the geezer was on his way, and the bear was left a bundle of nerves. A voice whispered in his ear to taste of he blood on the hammer; he complied, and was met with the entity of Wrath to seal a contract.
He wields his newest, strongest hammer, although he doesn't need it to deal serious damage.
