Ok... wanted ta share some'a m'herm pics with ya... hadn't even told ya how many of'em I got... which is 8 btw... an also wanted ta share a bit'a namin' info to ya too when it commes ta how I have come ta name'em so far....
Now mind ya if ya do got a smaller cluster od herms (or especially 1) then it's much easiier ta name the crab itself personally... but havin' a bunch'a crabs who seem ta delight in constantly changin' shells (masters of the ol' shell game I tell ya! heh) ya quickly learn ta jus' go namin' the shell...
So this shell's name s 'Scout'... who always seems the most active of the group... I've already seen one of the crabs change inta this shell b'fore settlin' on another so it'd been left empty fer a few days then suddenly it got occupied by one of the smaller crabs.
Of the 8 crabs I have now most are about this size... only 1 is noticaly larger (I call'er BigMamma) an 3 of'em are about half the size of 'Scout' here an I've seen'em all pretty much doinn' some 'home-shoppin' checkin' out what shells'll be best suited to'em as they grow.
Love watchin'em scuttle about an already got some who've grown more accustomed ta me so thatthey come outta their shells more quickly when I handle'em... as ya can see in the bottom pic I've already started 'spoilin'em' with treats' such as the chicken drumstick bone I've left in there fer'em ta whittle away at...
Hope ya like lookin' at this :)

hehehe well I doubt they get much (if any) heat from the lamp (I usually keep m'room plenty warm enough anyways) I have seen one of'em out on the very end of the branch ya can see closest to'em in the bottom pic an it was sooo cute cause he's keep tryin' ta 'swipe' at the slower movin' lava globs but whenever a fast one would shoot up he duck back inta his shell!... Had me chucklin' a few times when it happened :)
yeah when they were gifted ta me 3 of'em were in cute painted shells already, 1 that was mostly black so I called that shell crab 'Midnight Runner', 1 that was mostly yellow with black stripes an a kittyface painted on that I named 'Yellow Kitty', and 1 that was mostly pink with a Mickey Mouse head on ot so it was 'Pink Mickey'... an the only 1 still in those painted shells is Yellow Kitty... but there's still some smaller crabs that may adopt those shells as they get bigger...
as fer feedin'em I usually have 2 means'a doin' that... one is by hand (I check on'em often ta make sure they're doin' alright so will pick'em up an coax'em outta their shells by 'baitin' their mainclaw with whatever food I hold in the other hand... but mostly I just have their food in 'designated areas' that I know they frequent an sure enough they swarm around it when they discover it.... Herms are omnivorous so they can pretty much eat anything they crawl over includin' the branches, moss an even the calcium sand that's in there so they have a constant an wide variety of food ta chose from :)
