My next project is putting a coil over and 4-link in the 1968 AMX, also in my gallery. I am kind of thinking of adding gold stripes on the top and sides to the STi to match my also black AMX.

I'm surprised you can fit! I own an 05 WRX and I'm a skinny guy, but those bolsters still kill me!

It fits perfectly if you are narrow in the waist and wide in the lats.

My previous daily driver was 2002 Subaru WRX I owned since Dec 2001. I am a huge fan of Subaru that and AMC are the two best cars!

I like Subarus (scoobies as we nickname them heh), but we don't get AMC here in the UK, Alfa Romeo I'd say since we don't have AMC ^^

AMC=American Motors Corporation was purchased by Chrysler in 1989. I am not sure if many were exported to England.

I am a bit leery of Italian cars. Italians are best at espresso makers, scooters and leather jackets.

I'm not the biggest American car fan, they seem 'cheaply' built to me and wobble when you go round a corner. They look good though.

American Motors. Built cars better than the other "Big 3" American automakers. My AMX handles way better than the "Big 3" cars, Ford, Chevrolet and ESPECIALLY Chrysler.

I am doing a bunch of suspension mods to the AMX this spring: Coil overs, 4-link, urethane bushings. It should be pretty flat in corners after that.
The thing you have to keep in mind about that car in the test is that it had bias-ply tires, not even radials. Those are trailer tires now days. With a set of modern radials those numbers like 0-60 and quarter mile times not to mention handling jump way up.

I think it is all good right now. It has a Garret Turbo, front mount intercooler, racing clutch etc.
It is really a ton of fun to drive!

True, i'd rather have the EVO 9 MR, as it is faster And better engine for handling mods,

But the STi is still an amazing performer, and looks killer, especially in black, and the boxer rumble is like no other. And neither will leave you stranded anywhere like a BMW or Porsche.

I'm thinkin' of getting either one for my next once I decide to trade in my first car.

I would definitely not want to own an Evo. I am big on reliability and I would not count on that Evo to hold up.
You better be wealthy to own a used German car. They are a FORTUNE to fix and require weird tools.

Evos aren't unreliable. In fact, the Evo will most likely hold up better than the STI. just cuz it's a Mitsubishi, doesn't mean it's unreliable. Plus, you can't mod the STI. The ej25 is horrible for mods. Plus, I've talked to many Eclipse owners who have had NO issues.

It's the German and American cars that are unreliable. I speak from experience.

Sorry, I mostly meant the engine, as Sti motors tend to blow up more with higher horsepower mods.

You can modify the STI. I apologize, I mostly just meant the motor.

However, true, they can tend to have problems, but they're mostly owner related, not the car itself. But I'd take either or, I just like the evo.

And neither Evo or Sti will leave you stranded.

That is all changing. I am having a friend with a race shop go through the whole thing. I am not sure what all he is doing but I know all forged internals, big turbo...lots of stuff. I want to get the whole list of all he has done on Monday.
