Not furry related. But. Hobby related.
I've had two main hobbies in my life.
- High voltage/energy experimentation ( not deadly/risky at all </sarcasm> )
- Ariel sport-acro flying
The high-voltage one Ive been into since I was 10 or so. The RC stuff, drones ( 50% of stuff in this picture is DIY built ) I've been into just about over 2 years now, about the same time I got into the furry fandom. I've been more slowly and slowly dropping the high-voltage hobby. Although, That hobby came with learning electrical-engineering, which I still put to use. I just dropped a bit of it, due to my original reasons I got into that hobby. Not the most pleasant reasons. That hobby fell when I ran across the furry fandom, for similar reasons. and I took up Acro-flying drones. Never bothered with the toys found on the market, like DJI-Phantoms. I went for Do-It-Yourself. Why? Because flying 50+ MPH and 5+ flips a second, is a lot more fun. When plastic propellers are 'too weak to fly with' your doin it right. Cuz if your not crashing. Your not trying.
But. To everyone out there. Understand this. I went to college for Science-Arts and engineering/machining technology. I'm an aerospace CNC machinist. CAD. CAM. etc. I didnt go to school for electronics. Electrical. Drones.
Where did i learn how to do this shit? Build the stuff i do.. LED badges etc..?
One website. YouTube.
You dont have to be smart, to do this shit. You just need time & money. Doesnt take a rocket-science to built a 7ft tesla coil. I see people who youd LAST expect, to build one...make one. How is that possible? Because, if you put motivation into ANYTHING. you, can do 'almost' anything. You are your own limit. Saying your not smart enough, is a personal excuse and degrading of yourself. Learn to say you CAN do it, and put effort into research. I'm not a genius. I just have too much free time after work, and sit around researching crap. Keeping myself busy, keeping my mind active & critically thinking.
But never say your not smart enough to learn new things. Just learn to youtube ^.^
And Keep being fuzzy!!!! <3 you all~~

My mini 250 quad ( the one in the case i modded ) is my basher. I've rammed that frame into the ground so many times.. into poles..trees..never broke any more than props. Gotta love pure carbon fiber ^.^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AkE1oijChg as well as this one ^^ If you lived near by id easily take a day of the weekend to do some sailin. Got 2 pairs of goggles currently x3
You've got a nice setup there. I wish I could afford the fatshark HD goggles, but I've got college just around the corner and don't want to spend anything until I get a job. I'm also out of memory models on my radio, so I might be buying a "tar anus" as a member of my club called it. Have you tried flying a tricopter yet? I converted my quad to a tri and don't think I will be adding that fourth motor anytime soon. It feels more natural flying around curves or going down since it doesn't catch its own prop wash as much as the quad did. Most of the things I've learnt about multicopters, FPV, and RC in general actually came from trial and error rather than youtube videos or forums. This isn't anything new either since I learnt how to build, rebuild, and maintain computers from a very young age, with only one mistake that fried a hard drive. I taught myself almost everything I know about technology waaaaay before school started to teach anything even remotely related to what I was doing. Before the RC hobby, I was into electronics a lot, but I stayed on DC and under 24v for almost everything. Now I'm looking at building a mini quad FPV racer and an antenna tracker system, but I still need to find the money first. It doesn't look like you're too far from me. Maybe when I get to go to a con we should get together and fly together. I bet that your mini would go faster than my tri, but just wait till you see my mini swift It's a small flying wing which normally uses a 2s setup, but I've put it on 3s and used a motor from a 3D plane nearly twice as large as it. I can FPV from it using masking tape to hold the camera and Vtx to the top of it and I would be willing to bet that it goes faster than the mini quads. Since it's a small pusher, I had to severely underprop it to make it all fit, but I'm sure that I could get a prop with a more aggressive pitch to make up for the lost diameter.
Yeah i bought a taranis because it makes spektrum look like crap. Spektrum controllers are so dated and behind in technology. My new taranis blows it out of the water. Every switch is fully mappable with logic, LUA, etc ability. So it can do anything you want. I have it so when i want to control my OSD. I flip a switch. It voices "OSD Control" then my pitch/roll sticks move around the OSD. Disabled OSD control. And the pitch/roll sticks are back to normal. Got it monitoring cell voltages and everything, so i set voltage alarms and such. Far better system...plus easy to install UHF/DragonLink on.
And currently i dont have a tri. Im very happy with how quads fly. I fly rate and acro so its duper smooth gliding with insanity behind the sticks :3 All on my youtube channel PhxSt0rmz
