This graphic was created with the purpose to raise awareness for the American Tallgrass Prairie, which used to cover roughly a third of the country. Today, only 1% remains.
I captured the prairie within the silhouette of an American Buffalo, also called the Bison. Their range used to cover more than half of the North American continent, but overhunting reduced the population to less than 1,000. Recent efforts to protect the species in the last century have been successful, but their habitat has also been greatly reduced by human activities.
