Peter Gabriel is by far my favorite soloist, I’m not sure why, something about his voice and songs evokes certain emotions and feelings in me, passions that no other singer or band quite matches. His voice probably is an acquired taste to most, I’m not sure why it speaks to me on so many levels. Naturally I was an avid fan of ‘Big Time’ and ‘Sledgehammer’ like so many others in that time period, but it wasn’t until I found his third solo album on record (self titled, but known as ‘melt’), released one year before I was born and a good 6 years before So, the album that housed so many of his better known hits, that I discovered he had a slew of amazing songs and music that didn’t quite top the charts, and I was instantly hooked. I had to literally hunt down all his previous albums, they were all out of print in the late 90’s, and though cd’ stores were still a ‘thing’, that didn’t stop stores from not bothering to carry them, as anything other than his most recent work wasn’t available. Fortunately used cd stores were kind to me, and I got them all, and probably listened to them over and over while I drew back then.
But forgive these self indulging little snippets, they’re mostly for Simba anyways…
Anywho, on a long, long, long…LONG ass drive over to my moms a few weeks ago, the idea just came to me as my mind tends to wander on long car trips. I thought it’d be cool to compile a bunch of peter Gabriel songs, love related of course, especially for Simba, and do this picture to go along with it for the cover. Generally compilation albums I generate don’t get a lot of listen time, so maybe It’s as much as me as for him, as I’ve listened to them all several times over already even though we might not play it together. It’s really just an excuse to do more art for him…
But I hope he likes this, In spirit of the title I tried to capture the sign language poses for ‘Love’, and there were two different ones funnily enough. This made me think back to a friend who used sign language on occasion though I can’t remember him ever using these, least not that I saw

Peter Gabriel I definitely remember as an '80s icon. My dad back then had a huge collection of video tapes and seemed eager to record just about everything. Among those would be MTV shows, and I still remember the stop-motion-animation that went with "Sledge Hammer" and "Big Time"...hell I still remember the dancing turkeys!
Regarding your current piece here, although you did great I can't help noticing a hint of more details on Simba's side. Also I must admit Simba's got pretty much the build and hair style I'd hope to aquire one day IRL (although in the case of beards I usually prefer them with a mustashe - something about goatees on an otherwise hairless face strikes me as "incomplete"). The colors seem slightly flat but only because you obviously meant this to be a brighter and slightly simpler piece.

Thanks Baby, I like it when you put together an album, especially these kind. I even wouldn't mind if you picked your top 15 favorite songs of all time...that would be cool! PG is a weird one for me, I was going though figuring out who I was when Steam got released...I loved the song, hated the video. But "US" was what got me into PG, ultimately...but UP was my fav! I like the concept and the sign history. I didn't know that but I do You!

Do you mean 15 songs like...from various artists? that'd be tough honestly...even just 30 would be hard! I could try, my moods are always changing so I guess it'd be a matter of picking fav songs that I never get sick of....But love you too!
