Southern Black Widow Spider (Latrodectus mactans)
Here's more of a full body shot. You'll note the red marks on the back of the abdomen. These are not uncommon, but not always present (unlike the more familiar red hourglass on the bottom of the abdomen).
Look, but do not touch.

We have brown recluse where I live, and my mom had a scare from a bite she thought was a recluse one once.
Our house was very spider-friendly, apparently, so I used to be afraid to walk around barefoot.
Wolf spiders were common company, but we usually just gently removed them and put them outside <3

Wow x3 And I thought widows were scary enough in my mind, let alone with the uneven length leg thing going on o_o;
But I must say, I'm a bit less afraid of spiders after seeing a couple of your pictures. I'm pretty sure the Exile/Avernum series Talking Spiders would be as cute as you made some of them look x3
And thanks for the watch :3

That's interesting, we've tons of these where I live, but I don't think I've ever seen one with markings on the top of the abdomen like that. Of course, I've never looked TOO close; you get bit once by those little bitches, and you learn your lesson. Excellent photography though, I much prefer to look at them this way! xD
