Mortmercaton and his kin, which are demons with dominion over the aspects of death, can open the gates that transport anything from spiritual to physical planes and vice versa. They usually use this for travel but it has other uses.

When collecting a soul from a human, it's easier to avoid killing them. Death has its own rules and a natural process. Typically the soul lingers with the body 3 days after the person's death. To access the soul, Mortmer unlocks the spiritual gates linked within the eyes of his victims. (After all, it is said the eyes are the windows to one's soul)

This drawing came about quickly and was not planned. Originally I was tryin' ta make a dark, enigmatic background, but I kept drawing things and jus' went with it. I like some details 'bout it. So not a bad concept.

I wanna get back ta usin' textured brushes an' trying to get things ta look more traditional. Seemed I did better then. Just easier for me to be less rigid and stale.
