Here is a birthday gift for Drasus! It seems nowadays that all I upload is gift art. ...Well, gift art definitely isn't the bad kind of art, I'd say!
Drasus, known here as
Dragonsushi, is an amazing artist who excels at anatomy and design. She's essentially a bundle of creativity with an incredible attention to detail and I can't help but look from the sidelines in awe at times. Her preferred method of drawing is traditional art, but she is doing some amazing digital works too. If this sounds interesting, go check out her gallery and consider a +Watch!
Drasus was born on the 4th of April around 2 AM... It is exactly that time where I am now, so I thought I should upload this now. Also, for today, I'll be wearing the special Icon she drew for me, which I was too late to wear for April Fool's.
The green guy on the left is Drasus's key character Percival, facing Pinkie Pie, who wants to throw him a party. My God, Pinkie! Get out of there while you still can! Being around Percival is NOT safe! RUUUUN!
I can't really say too much about Percival lest I get something wrong and misrepresent him, so totally check out Drasus's gallery and see for yourself!
What I CAN say about Percival, though... My goodness, does that guy have BEDHAIR! I almost spent as much time sketching his hair than I did on the rest of the drawing!
I also made the drawing from a simple 2D angle because I dared not figure out how that nose of his works in the third dimension. And I made them floating heads because there's an enormous height difference! If I had made full profiles, the drawing would more look like this: http://i.imgur.com/CePiquL.png
Essentially, I made things just a bit more simpler to fit more with my style and just because I haven't been drawing in the past year or so. And Drasus's designs are just so detailed, I had to simplify it for me!
Anyhoo! Drasus! Keep the creativity rolling for many more years to come!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, [again] thank you so much man! I love this picture, it puts an immediate smile on my face every time I look on it! I bet it's Pinkie Pie's charm... Percival could learn a thing or two from her!
And thank you so much for the kind words too, you really are too much! It's not even my birthday in my timezone yet, and I'm already gonna call this a super happy birthday :'D Thank you!

You're very welcome! I am happy this drawing managed to spread such cheer and happiness! That makes it all worth it!
And it was an interesting learning experience to draw this. I definitely picked up a thing or two to use in the future.
I especially learned a lot about hair, heh.

Yeah, I definitely noticed that when I looked at references. It always looked different when you looked closely, but it always felt the same.
That shows how this is drawn from... instinct, so to speak. You know how it should look in different situations and from different angles naturally.

Aw, that tickles me pink... Thank you!!! I find it's helpful to use flowing motions for hair, definitely taking advantage of the natural curving motions of my wrist while I draw seems to help. It also helps to practice with quick, sloppy sketches... A lot of times, you get a more instinctual grasp of motion and flow this way!
Yeah. Definitely! It's interesting to note that I had tried drawing Percival's hair like 9 times when I went like "Fuck it" and just quickly slapped something together.
And that quick something is what you see here. The best result came from the moment I stopped trying too hard.
