True, true, but given that the initial terror wears off as the emotions are digested, memories of the event will likely get distorted as they were only afraid for a short time, and ended up unharmed. Confusion and paranoia may arise, but I could imagine a lot of people being able to move on with their lives burying that memory as best they can.
That...could create some interesting scenarios. Some it may drive them crazy to have the beast return multiple times when they wished to never see it again, and for those who want to feel numb due to depression or other reasons, that may actually be seen as good, if strange, fortune.
