You should have just ordered it! The D70 is amaaaazing....I'm so happy my mom worked the deal with me so I could upgrade...the D50 was seriously holding me back in some areas.
But honestly, I dunno much about the Canon 350D... >.> I'm a little against Canon as you could probably guess since I've only got a Nikon SLR, and would have a Nikon point-and-shoot if I didn't already have a Fujifilm.

Ya I wanted he Nikon so bad, ive only heard good from them. According to statistic though, the Canon is better than the Nikon, but ONLY if you have a upgrade lens to slap on the canon straight off, cause the stock lens sucks. Alas, I still have the stock D: student life sucks, being broke and all xD

I'm trying to save up as muuuuch as I possibly can, because there's three major purchases I want to make, two of them by the end of the year if possible.
1) A MAC-mini
2) IR filter @ 77mm diameter
3) 80-200mm f/2.8 lens
I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself. :P
And don't worry too much about the stock... I hate the stock lens I have...I kept the lenses from my D50 when I gave it to my mom, and she bought lenses for herself. (She bought the D70 body, gave it to me, I handed over the D50 and a check for the difference in body price, so I still have the crap lens that came with the D50). Its only a 18-55mm, where the stock lens for the D70 is a 18-70mm, and I love that lens soooo much.
So don't worry too much, just keep going, and eventually you can buy more stuff and possibly get something to upgrade that lens. :)
