Sometimes in the darkest of times, Hope is arriving just over the horizon. It’s our faith in that “arrival” that sustains us.
This picture hopefully captures the mood and likely loss of direction an early Christian might have felt on the pre-dawn of the day following Jesus' crucifixion.
NOTE: According to the apocryphal Acts of Peter (Vercelli Acts XXXV[1]), Peter is fleeing from likely crucifixion in Rome at the hands of the government, and along the road outside the city he meets a risen Jesus.
In the Latin translation, Peter asks Jesus "Quo vadis?", to which Jesus replies, "Romam vado iterum crucifigi" ("I am going to Rome to be crucified again"). Peter thereby gains the courage to continue his ministry and returns to the city, to eventually be martyred by being crucified upside-down. The Church of Domine Quo Vadis in Rome is built where, according to legend, the meeting between Peter and Jesus took place.

Well, I suppose it is easier to do things more on against things, since negative feelings are more fueling than the positive ones. (Kinda like the difference of a nuclear fission/fossil fuels which are powerful but destructive, and renewable energy which is safer but not as effective. I don't know, that's how I would imagine it)
And I would also add more comic booky stuff to the mic of porn and angering stuff, but that's just semantics, if that is the correct word, of course. >w<;
(Speaking of which: isn't it kind of weird that the most of the positive art is porn? I mean sex is fun and all that, but still)

I personally am quite atheistic but I respect the beleive of others as long as they respect me. I even respect it more when they - like my best friend - who is quite religious - are open to discuss religious matters ^^
And yes. I also know the apocryphs. They are qutie interesting to me ^^
guess you did a very good job on this ^^

Wow, that is something I haven't heard since I was a child. I was brought up in a Christian home learning much of that stuff. I am a Wiccan myself but it does please me to see someone who has knowladge of things like this. I think you conveyed that in your art very well.
And a Happy Easter to you as well, LiimLsan.
Too many people today seem to think that the only way to define themselves is by stating what they don’t believe or tearing down what other people believe.
Yes, I have the movie on DVD and love Peter Ustinov’s performance in it. Wonderful portrayal.
Believable cast all around.

If in some way I can cause viewers to pause and for a moment put themselves into the mind, body and situation of the central character(s) of my pictures, then I have succeeded in implanting a thought or idea in their minds to consider or imagine.
That is always my goal.
A happy Easter Serath, and may it cause you to reflect for a little while on the goodness that may currently be in your life, and perhaps cause you to make little happiness happen in someone else’s life.

Absolutely beautiful and poignant. You have done a great deal to capture the sense of shock and bitter weeping that consumed the Disciples and the others following Jesus.
It is also said of St. Peter that he had channels in his cheeks from where he wept so much over the years for his betrayal that night.
Dominus tecum

You’ve caught my intention in this picture perfectly, Mathias.
While most of the attention is focused on the central characters in Good Friday and the following day, I wanted to offer a glimpse of the sheep who had been deprived of their Good Shepherd -- how devastate they must have been.
“What do I do now? Is it all over?” must have been the question going round and round in their tortured minds. Those who thought themselves as being faithful (i.e., full of faith) were undergoing their own test of that Faith that night.

I agree with Mathias ... you caught a poignant feeling in his expression. I also like how you blurred the background -- it adds to the mood of doubt that I am certain they experienced. This had to be a very, very dark time: not completely understanding Jesus' prophecy of his Resurrection, they were leaderless and likely wondering if they had been following the right guy, but yet they had a tenacious gift of faith that would not let them go. At the same time, they had not yet received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to enliven them with His gifts and strength, so doubt, fear, and their spiritual enemies were having a time with them, I'm sure .....
Anyway, unique and interesting theme choice for a Paschal Triduum picture ....

Thank you, Graowf. I am pleased to know that my attempt at capturing what must have been the feelings of that the dreadful time for Christ’s first followers has found resonance among my Christian brothers and sisters today.
We all sometimes have our own tests of faith in the face of seemingly unconquerable despair, -- but we are not alone in our personal nights.

Would u be down to make a pic of Lord Zeyphr for me using his powers (Fire, storms, and darkness) all at once? Lord Zeyphr should be standing on a shrine with rune writing or somthing... :) :)
