Sometimes in the darkest of times, Hope is arriving just over the horizon. It’s our faith in that “arrival” that sustains us.
This picture hopefully captures the mood and likely loss of direction an early Christian might have felt on the pre-dawn of the day following Jesus' crucifixion.
NOTE: According to the apocryphal Acts of Peter (Vercelli Acts XXXV[1]), Peter is fleeing from likely crucifixion in Rome at the hands of the government, and along the road outside the city he meets a risen Jesus.
In the Latin translation, Peter asks Jesus "Quo vadis?", to which Jesus replies, "Romam vado iterum crucifigi" ("I am going to Rome to be crucified again"). Peter thereby gains the courage to continue his ministry and returns to the city, to eventually be martyred by being crucified upside-down. The Church of Domine Quo Vadis in Rome is built where, according to legend, the meeting between Peter and Jesus took place.

[edit:]
A song from the movie "Quo Vadis", based on the novel with the same title. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quo_Vadis_(novel))
And also, because I am nerdy and/or immature: "You don't need to see his identification." |'3
Religious art is about what people believe in, something that is very rare in most graphic art today. Usually most art today (outsiide of porn) is about what people are against.
And I would also add more comic booky stuff to the mic of porn and angering stuff, but that's just semantics, if that is the correct word, of course. >w<;
(Speaking of which: isn't it kind of weird that the most of the positive art is porn? I mean sex is fun and all that, but still)
And yes. I also know the apocryphs. They are qutie interesting to me ^^
guess you did a very good job on this ^^
Danke, Kumbartha
Being nice, being kind, admiring someone who has faith in something, or even who is buoyed up by an inner faith should be celebrated.
And hey, I may not be the most religious sort, but you don't deride ANY religion on their major holidays, that's just wrong. Sorry if you've had that issue in the past.
(Love the movie of the same source, btw.)
Too many people today seem to think that the only way to define themselves is by stating what they don’t believe or tearing down what other people believe.
Yes, I have the movie on DVD and love Peter Ustinov’s performance in it. Wonderful portrayal.
Believable cast all around.
You've captured the mood of one of the saddest days
on Earth, in a very moving way. It's sweet, it's simple,
and yet, it say so much. And I never knew that about
Peter, so thanks for sharing. Happy Easter Lionus!
That is always my goal.
A happy Easter Serath, and may it cause you to reflect for a little while on the goodness that may currently be in your life, and perhaps cause you to make little happiness happen in someone else’s life.
It is also said of St. Peter that he had channels in his cheeks from where he wept so much over the years for his betrayal that night.
Dominus tecum
While most of the attention is focused on the central characters in Good Friday and the following day, I wanted to offer a glimpse of the sheep who had been deprived of their Good Shepherd -- how devastate they must have been.
“What do I do now? Is it all over?” must have been the question going round and round in their tortured minds. Those who thought themselves as being faithful (i.e., full of faith) were undergoing their own test of that Faith that night.
Dominus tecum
Anyway, unique and interesting theme choice for a Paschal Triduum picture ....
We all sometimes have our own tests of faith in the face of seemingly unconquerable despair, -- but we are not alone in our personal nights.
Glad that you like the picture, milord.
Would u be down to make a pic of Lord Zeyphr for me using his powers (Fire, storms, and darkness) all at once? Lord Zeyphr should be standing on a shrine with rune writing or somthing... :) :)
