The Duke of Poland, a man who united pagan territories to form a Christian contry; a barbarian himself - Mieszko I of the Piast dynasty and his famous son, Bolesław Chrobry/Szczodry, entitled both "The Generous" and even "The Great". The creator of the state's power. Just a little too rash and fierce, though.
Another part of my diploma. I was supposed to paint people who I adore most - the first rulers of Lithuania, the Gediminids dynasty and Mindaugas, the first and only king of this beautiful country. The other part of my project portrays the Piast dynasty, which's nowhere near perfect in comparision to this fascinating family, but still, I enjoyed painting them. (don't take this too serious and personal, haha)
These are oil paintings, 50x70 cm each.

I can't believe I haven't replied to this, I'm so sorry! I must have deleted it on my mobile...
Oh, I understand! That's a big shame it looks like that, really - unfortunately, it's not much better in Poland as well... We focus on our history only and I haven't found a single person who knew the Lithuanian monarchs I've painted before seeing the very portraits. Making these characters more reconisable's the main reason of this series, after all! I couldn't hear a better compliment than that it has inspired you, thank you so much gor that!
