I have heard 2 versions....
First is that when you something TOO DAMN CUTE <3 .... like adorable kittens (just an example)... "So cute I can puke rainbows!"
And second because of the skittles, they say "taste the rainbow" so.... "I ate some much rainbow I can puke one"

ah oh ok thank you so very much. yeah, the first time i saw some one drawing a character with a bloody nose i was like what's with this? my friend was like oh it's a anime thing. it means when some one is so very happy and excited their nose will bleed. i was like ah ok.
so yay now i know what both mean with the puke rainbows and bloody nose.
