Tarval is the twenty-first of his name, and the ninety-sixth member of his family (ka Azrinrem n'Lanya, or Imperial House n'Lanya) to become the absolute ruler of the Kashlan Empire.

This portrait shows him in the uniform of Supreme Marshal, his only military rank, and wearing the Murchan e't Tarinjir, or Collar of Sovereignty. While there is a crown in the Imperial regalia, he is only permitted to wear it upon his coronation. The Collar, with its wide and heavy gold plaques, is the true symbol of his power.

It's also very heavy, to remind him of the burdens of rule.

He may look like he's a bit irritated, but Kashlani are not human. This is the equivalent of a pleasant smile.
