Goes with getting rid of the Great Wheel and creating the Feywild as a viable entity. It does seem very consistent with that cosmology - these are the guys who are still very much linked to the otherworld, they're almost the normal elves who haunt the forests... and yet not quite. The same way gnomes are a little like spriggans and so on. I like the idea, but tastes vary!
Yeah. One of the things I liked in 4e is that, as cool as the old cosmology was, they tried to make a certain amount of sense out of everything. One of the cooler parts of that is that it was a little more like "real" mythology in that the various otherworlds weren't balanced in a binary way, and they were a bit better about creating and using fey creatures. I really enjoyed their book on the Feywild and found it really really evocative.
