The spirit fox is a mysterious and legendary creature. Stories say they are born from spirits that wish to stay with their loved ones beyond death, but whether this is true or not no one knows for sure. They do indeed tend to attatch themselves to a person or family, and bring luck for their owners throughout their lifetime, which is about 140 years. As such they are sometimes sold as pets to high bidders.
They are similar to the kitsune in principle. They begin with one tail, and every decade (after the first 20 years) they grow a new tail. However, unlike the kitsune each tail does not give them more power, but rather less, as their body fades. At their thirteenth tail, they become completely intangable and invisible, and it is not sure whether they remain that way, or whether they die from fading. They do not eat, nor make any noise, being ghosts. They also lose the ability to touch things around tail 9.
