Zira would watch the cubs for hours. Vitani was so much more dominant than Kovu, she started to have doubts about the heir Scar had chosen. So what if 'Tani was a girl? Zira had managed perfectly well. But her love for Scar over-rode that of her own mind and Kovu remained the chosen one, which was probably her downfall.
