unfinished cuz I saved a flattened version and lost the layers! thing taken from my tumblr where I had an ongoing story, this was suppose to be a snapshot of the future.
Marbles, all grown up and still stuck as a pony joins the guard, and takes to the military life too well, all except one thing, he’s still caustic. He makes no friends, but doesn’t do anything to be ousted for being a bad team player. But those who are more perceptive than most are able to see past the cold exterior to a core made of hate and hostility, none more so aware than Celestia.
Celestia, the mother figure she is, is know to treat all as her children in a way. The guard to her are just her ‘big strong boys’ and wil always brighten their days with a smile, and a touch to their arm, cheek or shoulder, giving physical reassurances, doubly so for those who seem down, or distant. Then enters Patches.
Patches is full of more hate than she thought anyone should possibly hold, but has amazing discipline to keep it in line, but she sees it there, boiling behind his eyes every time he looks at her, her sister or anyone else. Believing she just needs to shower him with more comfort and give him deeds to bring out the good in him, she asks her sister to help with his work as a night guard, and so proceeds a time of her pet project of cracking his shell of ice and iron. It slowly dies a cold death.
One day a situation occurs in which she seemingly is put into danger, Patches intervenes, taking a wound for her. Thinking she has effected him she moves to thank him for the action personally during his recovery. instead of reluctant acceptance, all she see’s is undisguised contempt, as if he’s blaming her for the wound. She then realizes there is no love in him, but duty.
After a time when he returns to duty she comes upon him, and for once in her millennia long habit formed of love and comfort, she hesitates. her instinctive will to give love freely is blocked by doubts she rarely ever has as all the thoughts of him enter her mind like a toxic wind. In the end this lost son, full of bitterness, has hurt her in ways no grand monster ever has, and not with magic, or violence, but with the most mundane of things. In a world of dragons and demi-gods, the mortal can still do more harm without lifting a hand.

...Its gunna be stupid sounding.. Cuuuzzz he's actually a demon who's had his memories and form blocked and locked. As an evil incanate, dick bag, he naturally hates everything and seeks to be cruel.
-BACKSTORY-
Marbles originally was a devil rat familiar for a big boss character, since then he's undergone a bunch of radical changes, and the devil thing had to be kept because that was a key feature, and has been a lot of small plot devices in a few games i've run. Now he's cursed to be a pony fan made character. haw haw.

Its a lot more simple than that but so much more insulting.
She's a neigh immortal being, and most things can't really hurt her, but she has guards around her that seem to be for show, and to make her feel like she's more vulnerable than she really is. he knows this, everyone knows this, but they carry on the ruse out of respect or other reasons. For Marbles its part of the duty, so he flung himself in the way of a threat, got hurt for it, and didn't need to. It infuriates him but he won't leave, because nothing else would allow him to live a life he would be somewhat content with.
Joining a villian somewhere wouldn't work either because all villains seem to be taken care of swiftly. For want of a better word, he's an evil character in a world built for good, and so he's forever going to be given an unfair hand.
I like looking from the other side of the good/neutral/evil bar for fun.

Eeehhhhh... That scenario don't work cuz while his true side is locked by hind a crap ton of wards, his mortal form is just that, and applies to the rules of the story-verse he's from. He's a mean little bastard but he's not a super power, and Tirek was a top tier villain with more magical abilities other than "fly" and "stab." Honestly Marbles in the story is just a grunt, power wise. But the point of a great character is not how strong they are, that makes a bad story, its about how the character reacts to things out of his ability to control, and how it changes him and everything around him.
I wouldn't put marbles in a story just to show him kick ass, but how he screws with the lives around him on a social level, that's a better story.
