Over the years, I'd been taking pictures (with everything from a Kodak Instamatic 104 camera and a regular 35mm camera, to digital cameras), and the subject matter has ranged from family photos to rare snapshots of celebrities. I've also taken pictures of animals - both domesticated and wild - and I thought I'd post two of my most recent pictures of fauna I tend to have daily encounters with at work.
I'd brought my digital camera to the Palm-Aire condo complex in Pompano Beach, Florida, where I work 3.5 hours a day as a 'janitor'. During the middle of my daily shift, I take a lunch break at one of the many clubhouses in the area. It usually entails a bag lunch or a frozen entree that I heat up in a microwave oven (found in the clubhouse kitchenette)...
While dining,I usually have squirrels approaching me for a handout (especially if I bring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich). So that I can eat without disruption, I'd brought with me some unsalted peanuts, which I'd toss to the squirrels every other minute (between bites of my own lunch).
Since I have been getting up close and personal with the little critters, I finally got around to bringing my digital camera to take a number of snapshots of them... on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 (and that's NO April Fools' Day prank)!
This first 'photo-op' finds one of the squirrels sitting up on her haunches, and looking at me, as if to ask "Well? Are you going to toss me a peanut, or WHAT?!"

This reminds me of a squirrel that investigated after I bought the house. I guess he figured the lack of dogs meant that I liked squirrels, because he ran up to within a few inches of my foot and stood on his hind legs to stare at me.
It hasn't happened since. I guess the lack of a handout meant I wasn't worth hanging around with.
