A mask I made based on an interview with another classmate for my Masks & Mantles class. We were supposed to create a mask ABOUT the other person. Without going into a lot of detail on what all the small bits of symbolism mean, I basically made the mask based on the overall feeling I got from the interview.
It looks so much more dramatic in darker lighting with all the shadows it casts across itself, and the gold looks like gold leaf in person.

Wrapped my head in plaster wrap (similar to the stuff they use for casts at the doctors) for the base. I then made a mold out of clay for the face, which I then laid plaster wrap over for the final face mask. I painted it with acrylics and used buckram for the eyes and mounted it onto the head base so it wear's like a hat with a visor. I can see through the eyes.
