My setting Erba is based on the city of New Orleans and the crossed Historical epochs (like time zones). All of this means that you, for example, can meet a pirate when you're from the XIX age, lol.
Ruth's parents are (afroamerican)pirate and (hispanic)puta from the Old epoch. They actually didn't care about her, so she ran to the Modern age. But the habit to put a lot of stuff on her body is still with her x)
