You know what I have to say about the tail. And about how I've got to update the story. For a disclaimer, it's based on an earlier sketch, and some things don't fit anymore.
So instead let me say how this one, however grumpy you might be about it, is probably one of your best pictures yet. In diversity and technique the Nightmare Moon commission is still a bit better, but it's almost as adorable as the Luna animation, and in terms of sheer visual attraction I don't think any picture of yours beats it. Each of the designs is really good (although I'd argue against Celestia's cut-outs but I'm a purist), and the poses are absolutely adorable, each having a very distinct personality. Celestia's pose is actually growing on me, even though I was completely in love with the one you originally had for her (fists waving at her sides, large grin on her face, stars in eyes). And Twilight can kill people.
