A hyena sat on the other side of the cab, reading a book silently. He had never seen a hyena in person before, and he stared in wonder at the creature. Its dark brown eyes scanned the pages of the small paperback book it held through thick rimmed black glasses. He wore baggy cargo pants and beaten up sneakers. Black and white striped arm bands covered every inch of his arms. His mane was spiked into an amazing mohawk, and he had countless piercings in each in his ears. A small blue backpack sat beside him. Jasper wanted to know this new person, but was too afraid to move.  The hyena’s eyes shifted up from the book and over to him, and their eyes almost met, but Jasper closed them, pretending to still be asleep. ‘I’m so stupid,’ He thought angrily to himself. ‘Why can’t I just be a normal, social being.’ He squinted his eyes tightly in frustration.
