Explain the Shadowville setting.

Shadowville is this idea I've had for a graphic novel.

That's actually not half bad. It deserves a chance for not having any stubble-chinned anti-heroes.

I love The Punisher as much as the next guy, but I don't think I could write him.

Morty sort of fits that mold, but he's also old as fuck and only has one arm. And he's supposed to be kind of creepy and yet, he's a good guy.

What I've run out of patience for is the character archetype of the badass iconoclast guilty of every vice imagineable who justifies all variety of excess and abuse by sanctimony and ethical hypocrisy. They're the undying wish-fulfillment fantasies of every hack who could never slay the adolescent within.

Morty appears to be a regular decent fellow with character flaws reflecting the setting. That's more empathetic than another Spawn wannabe.

Well, "regular decent fellow" doesn't really suit him.

He'll bust a cap in your ass if you get on his nerves.

But I reasoned that this would be more of a product of insanity than just being a Jerkkass McAssjerk.

Well, yeah.

He had his life flipped turned upside down pretty bad.
