cautiously blender optimistic
ok one thing in blender rigging that has given me a HUGE amount of issues is in the shoulders. it never looked good enough to me. i could get most of the rest of the body to rig properly but the shoulders ALWAYS looked terrible. i have tried many tutorials and rigify tools but none worked or would even mention the shoulder area.
then out of shear frustration i half arsed a rig and boom....the damn thing starts working. the only thing i did differently was to keep some bones connected that i had learned somewhere to be "disconnected" so all these years i had been doing it wrong for the geometry i have been using.
but with this next step i am one more step closer to making a Blender file that is easier to use and play with than DAZ

Shoulders are actually one of the hardest areas in the human body to rig, it's a fact.
Take it from someone who is learning to rig in 3DS Max :3
Honestly, the best way to rig is software independent, it doesn't matter what you use.
Study the shoulders, how it deforms and research anatomy, rigging tutorials are just aimed at software because understanding the shoulder itself will help you to understand how it actually all works out.
Additionally, proper edge flow and topology helps a lot with shoulder animation.
Good luck! :3
