1st Generation Nuclear Armor
Design inspired by the 00-ARETHA of Armored Core 4, combined wth Appleseed's Landmates/GitS's Arm Suits.
Essentially the first Nuke Suit, of which was a borderline mecha than an exoskeleton.
~~~
The first generation of Nuke Suits, created through the use of technology available at the time. With transistors far from small enough for a more compact exoskeleton (as in the case of the Hardiman in 1965), the former Terrania (now Tyrannia) decided to increase the size of the armor. In addition to fitting enough transistors in the armor, a nuclear reactor could also be fitted. These armors were massive, borderline mecha, often equipped with large weapons and devices to match.
In the old days, Tyrannia was more concerned about being able to eliminate the Supremians through raw firepower, technology unavailable for allowing high-speed melee combat. This in mind, these old Nuke Suits were designed to arrive on scene at high speed and then hit the target with a device called a Nuclear Focus, or a weapon designed to focus massive amounts of energy onto a small point through nuclear methods.
The old Nuke Suit wasn't well designed for melee combat, structurally unsound for such operations. Even the ones capable of handling the intense acceleration of the direct nuclear propulsion engines ended up disabling their wearers. Instead, the Nuke Suit was sheathed in conductive material that would act as both power delivery and a taser, should a Supremian strike the armor with their bare fists (rubber gloves would not help). It would give the wearer enough time to counterattack, the same voltage and current that could be used to power a city or ship sufficient for compromising a Supremian's nervous system. While about as structurally stable as cardboard or thin ice compared to a Supremian's fists, the use of extreme electrical power served as a good deterrent.
Standard proceedures primarily involved getting in range, staying unnoticed while approaching further, then aiming the weapon and sniping from a distance to let the relativistic projectile weapon do its job. With the exoskeleton allowing its user to adapt to a variety of terrain, it was possible to snipe from within difficult areas. Should one manage to get spotted, ranged combat and dashing through cover were commonly employed for defense. Luring them in to touch the electrical armor was a common techique, used to stun or slow the Supremian and finish them off.
Some dexterous Supremians got smart, tossing common rocks at mach 33 at the armors. The armor wasn't suited to withstanding the impacts, easily ripped apart by the speeding rocks. Denser armor would help, but thanks to the already massive size of the armor this would only hinder mobility. Better armor would not be available until the 1990s, when transistor sizes were small enough for more compact armor.
While the original 1st generation Nuke Suits are no longer in production thanks to their outdated technology, their large skeletal structures continue to be used through Behemoth-Type frames. These Behemoth-Types are Nuke Suits utilizing prototype technology or heavy weaponry, guaranteed to keep the wearer safe thanks to their large size. In addition, they are large enough to accommodate smaller armors, further increasing protection and power output.
Powers granted when worn:
- Enhanced strength by 100 times. Strength limited due to structural limitations of the materials.
- Enhanced speed up to mach 5 (in atmosphere), so long as acceleration didn't exceed 9 Gs.
- Immunity to small arms, increased resistance to radiation, tank-like protection in most cases.
- +800kV electrified outer shell, reinforces standard armor.
- Mach 7 rated railgun, launching miniaturized nuclear rockets reaching speeds up to 1% the speed of light.
- Energy signature visual sensors.
- Water recycling, waste management, and air conditioning for 3 days of independent and comfortable operation.
