Can you say The Police? So basically I was messin' around with a completely different lick when I came up with this little diddy. Just like my last submission, this is 80's.
I made it in give or take 16 hours, spread over 3 days. More than half that time was spent figuring out and recording the solo and mixing it all up. It took me about 20 minutes to come up with all the separate parts and bass line. Drums were another 30 minutes of programming.
This is like the fastest I've completed a song. EVER. Ofcourse, (is that one or two words...meh..) no lyrics or singing but I'm not too worried right now about that. It'll have lyrics...one day...so for now...COMPLETE
It's got the ever obvious Police influence to it, but I think that mostly for the pre-chorus, and obviously the drums, (note the high hats), and bass are all very "Police". However, the verse I think is more like Shooting Stars by Billy Idol, with the chorused/delayed palm muted picking on the guitar. Also...bass is all DI, just w/EQ and some verb.
In the solo I hear a couple of distinguishable influences. To name two I hear, sounds like a little bit of Santana near the beginning, and there's a Randy Rhoads lick tossed in there when the solo picks up into the second half.
I dunno. What d'ya guys think? What d'ya hear?

Thanks dude. Ya, I don't usually create stuff that's like "oh my god, that totally sounds like ________" but I liked it, and just kinda went with it, and I'm glad cause it's also one of my favorite songs that I've done. I've got another one that I'll toss up here in the next week or two, that's also 80's, but more Rush sounding, just gotta tweak the guitar part a bit. Thanks for the fav!
