Inner-Selvs, No. 41, Part A

"Y-you're alive?! After a run-in with Overseer Hugo?! No way!" Chewy exclaimed in disbelief. "Hugo the elephant? Fidget beat him? Just how strong is he now?!" Kat thought to herself. "Don't worry about me, just focus on Dash, I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner" Fidget answered. The bobcat didn't seem to notice the two overseers that were behind him, instead he shifted his focus to Kat, whom he'd come all this way for. "It's been a while Kat, you're looking well" Fidget said as he slowly walked towards her. "He knows her, could it be?" Yue thought to himself. Nightshade started to walk towards Fidget, but Yue grabbed his shoulder and held him back.
The black kitten looked at the ferret with a puzzled look. "I think you'd better tell me about that bobcat, you mentioned that you've met him before, what do you know?" Yue inquired. "I know enough, he's of no relation to the one that you're thinking of" Nightshade answered. Meanwhile, Kat and Fidget had begun to talk amongst themselves. "Fidget you're alive and well, that's good....now please leave" Kat said. "What? Are you kidding me? I came all this way to save you, I'm not backing out now!" Fidget protested. "Don't be stupid, you're in way over your head, take Dash and get out of here!" Kat shouted. "Heh, you've sure got a funny way of begging me to get you out of here, most girls would just tremble and then come right out and say it" Fidget said mockingly, he felt that just standing there arguing would be a waste of time.
A vein popped on Kat's forehead, she was being dead serious with Fidget and yet he was totally blowing her off. "Excuse me?!...I don't need rescuing, and I do not tremble!!" Kat shouted. "Ha! Is that why you're pulling the tough girl act?! Are you afraid of showing weakness in front of me?!" Fidget answered, loving this moment. "Grrrr, a tough girl wouldn't need the likes of you to come rescue her, you idiot!!" Kat shouted. The two of them were now right in each other's faces, continuing to mock each other and hurl insults; from the other side of the bridge, Overseer Yue looked on in disbelief, this was almost too embarrassing to look at in his opinion. Nightshade said nothing, he just continued to look at the two of them. Chewy momentarily stalled his treatment of Dash's wounds and looked at the two of them with an unsure expression. "Uh guys....this really isn't the time nor the place" he said.
Kat turned her back to Fidget, crossed her arms and turned her nose up, Fidget stuck his tongue out at her and then turned around and did the same thing as her. Then for the first time, Fidget noticed the two overseers at the other end, he didn't recognize Yue, but Nightshade ignited an old flame in his heart. "Surprised to see me again? I bet you didn't think you would" Fidget said as he glared at the black kitten. Nightshade took Yue's hand off of his shoulder and started to walk towards Fidget; Fidget started to advance towards Nightshade. Chewy had his usual concern for Fidget's safety, but he'd already defied all odds twice in a row, so he kept his mouth shut this time. Kat heard Fidget stepping away from her and turned around, she grew worried as she saw Fidget and her brother marching towards each other.
"You know the whole time that we were talking, you could've just killed me right then and there, my goal is the same now as it was the last time we met, and if you wanna stop me, you're gonna have to kill me" Fidget said confidently. "I don't need an opening to attack you, I'm unlike anything you may have encountered thus far, I don't know how you survived, but this time I'll make sure I finish you off" Nightshade said as he looked Fidget dead in the eyes. "You're welcome to try, I certainly won't deny you a chance at it, out of all the youth sprites I've encountered here, you're the only one that I actually want to fight!" Fidget said as he narrowed his eyes.
Just then, Kat ran over to Fidget and grabbed his right arm. "Fidget no, I won't let you fight him! It'll be just like last time!" she stated. "No, it won't" Fidget said matter-of-factly. He then pulled his arm away from her and put his right hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it out. Yue took a few steps back, he knew that Nightshade would object to him getting involved in this fight. "I'm still lightyears ahead of him, but there's no denying that he's different from before, his energy level is more intense and focused than last time" Nightshade told himself. Nightshade then held his rattle out in front of him and converted it to its sword form. Fidget still hadn't drawn his sword yet, he smirked at Nightshade as he stood there, prepared to draw it anytime. "Go on, make your move, I dare you" Fidget said with confidence. "Don't get cocky with me!" Nightshade said, sounding annoyed. Kat was about to stop Fidget and Chewy was about to say something; Yue just watched in anticipation.
Nightshade immediately used quick step and attempted to finish off Fidget with an attack like the one he used on the bobcat that night long ago, but the clang of metal was heard as Nightshade's quick step technique ended and he was visible to the naked eye again. Fidget was holding his sword behind his back, blocking the sword of Nightshade who was now standing behind him. No one present could believe it, no one had ever managed to keep up with Nightshade's speed before. "I saw every one of your movements" Fidget said as he turned his head towards Nightshade. The black kitten was dumbfounded, and Kat was in awe. "He can keep up with my brother's quick step, it took Nightshade years to reach that level of speed, but Fidget's done it in nearly a month, I never would've believed it if I hadn't seen it just now" she thought to herself. Fidget turned and faced Nightshade as he took a battle stance. "That move won't work on me this time, I'll only say this once, don't underestimate me!" Fidget declared.
