A picture of Ebon relaxing at the beach! Pencil on card stock.
The evil in the human world, Malaise, had been increasing to a point that the fantastic beasts could no longer ignore. At a young age, Ebon decided he would leave the world of his people, the "Darkside" where shadow-beasts like himself live, crossing over into the unknown "Lightside", the world of humans, to investigate this mysterious threat.
Eight feet in height, as strong as a bear, and possessing the characteristic charcoal black skin and white face of his people, Ebon could not allow himself to be seen by doubting modern human eyes. To help him blend in with modern society, Ebon was given a special brand on his shoulder. This tattoo would allow him to change into a human at will for six days. But on the seventh day, the spell over his body would require a rest and so he was forced to change back into a jinbu.
Dazzled by the modern inventions and trends of humanity, Ebon-as-human assimilated himself into society. Friendly, playful and loving people, he made a name for himself as a musician, disc jockey and a highly skilled capoeirista.
But due to what he was by nature, Ebon felt that he was unable to get too close to anyone. Any who saw his true appearance would be frightened and he would be forced to relocate. Nara, Ebon's pet kitten, was the only one who knew his secret and what he wished for most: That he might find someone who could look at him for who he was, not what he was.
What Ebon did not yet know was that there was another jinbu who had changed into a human. But this one, his head having been clouded and his heart blackened by Malaise, had far less benign intentions.

I absolutely love the story connected with this image. That sort of thing is one of my favorite things to read in any tale of any kind. For someone to look beyond the flesh and into the heart. Ufdifjgfdg I just love that. @_@ Especially when the person is a beastly creature or humanoid entity of some kind.
I loooove his eyes. I don't even know what it is, just something about them...
