I just finished my own paws and tail! :3 I'm going to work on my head in May/Next month. I am loving the smoothness of those peets <33 ahhh the white fur is amazing. You did so well.
Im so glad im not the only one who started with the paws and tail first.
Also, as for prices, i'm new at this too, i'm also building my first suit by hand but.. I'd sell tails by length and paws my shoe/hand size.
Because the more material you have to use, the more money YOU lose. And so, if you charge more when you use more material for larger projects it'll be a better profit. Don't jip yourself buddy. *pats*

No problem!
and I've got a couple friends trying to convince me to go, but getting out there is the issue. >< plus, I'd fall out lol. I'd have zero clues of what to do. But i'm slowly warming up to the thought of going. I'd go JUST for the dance competition hehe. not to participate but just to watch. I think it'd be fun.
My problem is money and transportation.

Sadly, No. I don't have pics posted of anything. >< I am very satisfied with it though.
I'm just so nervous about sewing together the face marking and doing the furring in general on my head. Ugh.. Because, the tutorials make it look simple but like.. omfg. I'm so afraid because I know it isn't going to be easy and I cannot afford to mess up. Like, the foaming I think i'll do good. But the furring im SO scared of messing up. I've got limited money to spend so it's like... if I screw up I have to wait the rest of the month to try again. :c

Good luck! I hope it comes out the way you want.
I plan to try using a mannequin head covered by a balaclava. Then build from there out. So excited but so nervous. Nervous because 1 - furring and 2 - material. I need enough material. It's vital that I have enough money to get EVERYTHING I need. The most expensive part is the fur and mannequin head. I'll be using 3 fur colors, and get about 2 yards of each.
What do you have on your material list? I'd like to see if our lists are similar. Ya never know! You may have thought of something I didn't.
I apologize for all the questions im just SUPER excited now haha. You're the first fursuit creator to actually reply and answer any questions plus ask your own. I'm typically met with silence or simple answers. So thanks!

but now im building it out of foam, i need plastic sewign mesh, markers in my eye colors, have the two colors of fur i need, i need sculpy so i can sculpt my pericings

Oh wow hehe. Much shorter list then myself. Good idea with the markers though! I was going to try and paint the eye color in and when it dried just use something pointing to clear out the mesh. I plan to have my suit with "follow me" eyes.
My list is--
The Mannequin head
Balaclava
inch thick foam
masking tape (For the pattern/markings)
3 colors of fur, each at least 2 yards
plastic mesh
markers
white foamies
sculpey
fleece
more hot glue
and some heavy duty thread

ah yea, alot of stuff i had, or am getting for free (friend had a big ass foam pad that hes givign me) and stuff and alot of it i already bought so things i need to buy if probably more hot glue, the sewing mesh for the eyes its awesome and gives great visibility, and the markers and sculpy,

Replied.
and that's so lucky. I know of no one with these things, and sadly like I said, I have limited money. Plus I never thought i'd ever make a suit by myself. I always just admired fursuiters and wished I could get a suit myself. Well, recently I got tired of waiting, and realized if I wanted it I have to do it, so I got to work when I could and i'm so very happy. Like, the time and money spent on it is nothing compared to the priceless emotional pay off when the product is complete. ;u; just knowing that you did it yourself and finding out you DO have what it takes to reach any goal if you put your mind and heart into it, it's just.. wow. Yeah, this is my first suit, and I've only got the paws and tail. but wow the emotional pay off is totally worth every bit of it. Then again since you're doing the same with building it you probably know this emotional pay off.
oh, and just a little suggestion/tip thing. If you leave a little space between the head itself and the ear, you can insert a little mesh. This will provide better hearing and probably more air flow/ventilation. Because it's going to be HOT in that head. You probably know that a lot of body heat comes from the top of your head so that mesh between the little space of between the ear and head will allow some of that heat to escape.

yea this is my first time making a suit but will be my third suit, and yea, each time i finish something its just awesome to see the progress and that you can actually mkae something, and i decided to make mine becasue i have been sooooooooo screwed over by people in the past and the one i wasnt screwed on i ended up trading for a piece of crap that i refurbished and the girl ended up pissing me off to the point i couldnt look at the character anymore, and so the money i made from selling it i used to buy some of the supplies for my sonas suit lol
