Calua is mine!
His story~
Waking up, Calua realized that he fell asleep on his armchair again, a book laying on his lap. He had a dream of the past, his life in Bandle City, his old life. There were pleasant and more unpleasant memories. While the memories of his parents were good, they also made him sad, as he had not seen them since he was thrown into this world. The memories of his life on the other hand are ones he prefers to not think about. Being a genius is not a bad thing, except one is much better than the rich and privileged. This brought him hate and resentment from many others, who thought that their name and money should have been enough to get praise and glory.
It might have been the case if not for Calua, who was way above them in regards to knowledge and skills, aswell as ideas. Getting all the praise for his ideas, intelligence and hard work did not sit well with many other yordles in his class and the university, so they started bullying him on a daily basis, just adding more hate and bitterness. He kept that to himself, not telling teachers or his parents. Though many knew what was going on. It was boiling inside him. He knew, that he could not change things at the time being, but it would end sooner or later. And he would show them what happens when people treat him the way these bullies and others do.
He secretly started to get his body into a better shape and increase his stamina until he had the athletic build he wanted. It also helped to withstand the bullying better. His next step was to finish an invention he was working on. Something that would change how people treat him. Not because of respect, that is something that would not work here. These yordles would never change their behaviour, as they are already rotten inside. They would never respect him. Calua knew that. This would not work, so he planned on going for a different way. The element he planned on using was fear. He planned on showing them what they get in return for treating others they way they do.
He just had to keep up with it for a bit longer, as his invention was almost finished. Calua smiled thinking about it. His very first combat oriented invention which he is still improving and upgrading. The first one of course wasn't as good as it is now, but back then it did a great job, his enhancing combat suit.
He had to keep up for one more week. In this week he finished the suit and did tests, took care of little errors here and there and made it is as good as possible back then. His smile turned into a wide grin, remembering how he went to university, wearing the suit beneath his clothes, the suit only visible on his hands, where he wore special gloves for fighting.
The day went on normally, getting praised again for doing such a good job on the homework they had to do. He thanked the teacher, grinning as went back to his seat, looking at the bullies, which already did a good job at enraging them. Seeing their hateful expressions was oh so very sweet. As he was growing up, he never imagined, that live would change him such a way. But does one not get punished for the things not imaginable? Anyway, nothing happened yet though, that was until their break. They rushed towards him, thinking they cornered him at his locker.
There were the usual insult and complaints, asking him if he hadn't learened his lesson yet, to which he only replied with him actually learning compared to them. The one in front of Calua grabbed his shirt, laughing loudly, thinking he had the upper hand as he tried to throw a punch at Calua. Too bad for him, that was not something that would work anymore.
With his suit working perfectly, Calua caught the fist with one hand and grabbing the bullies wrist with the other. Putting some pressure onto these, made the bully scream in pain. Calua just smiled, stating that it shouldn't be that bad yet, as it did not apply too much pressure yet. Though telling the bully, how he remembers everything he did in the past, would make the next thing much more painful. That said, Calua released him, but before the bully could scramble away, Calua threw a punch of his own, which broke some bones and sent the bully flying, crashing right through a wall into another classroom, where he stayed on the floor, knocked out cold.
He then turned to the other three. They were not really smart and unsure what to do, so they decided to come at him all at once, which might have worked on someone else, but not Calua. It was easy for him dodging these half hearted attempts to beat him and ended only on all three of them laying on the floor, broken bones and their screams of pain filling the hallways. Thinking back, Calua still shudders now and then. It sure can change a person, being treated like he was. He never felt regret for the things that happened back then.
He then knocked off his clothes a bit, getting them back on correctly, as teachers and other people came to the scene. It sure got messy and there were many hours of explaining and talking about the things that happened. It was a good thing back ten, that that was the first time he ever did something “bad”. So even the terrible state these bullies were in was not too much trouble for him. Luckily, the teachers were on his side. They of course couldn't show it openly too much, but they too were fed up with these rich people, these good for nothings. In the end, Calua got a small warning, which wasn't a problem for him. They also “punished” him by giving him more work. They made him help the teachers and professors with experiments. Who would have thought though, that one of these experiments would throw him into another world?
It happened in the year after he took care of the bullies. It was already a thing of the past now and he got the respect he wanted and deserved now. It was then, that the professors and Calua worked on an experiment which was supposed to get a new energy source. They worked with a new kind of mineral, crystals they found deep below the surface. These contained a lot of strong energy and it seemed like, that it would take ages for this energy to run out. Problem was though to channel the energy and be able to use it. That is why they studied the energy and crystals and did many experiments.
It was one day, during an experiment where they tried to extract the energy, that the accident happened. The professors were working on the instruments in another room as Calua brought a bigger sample into the chamber, bringing it into position. After activating the switch in the chamber, starting the experiment. It all seemed fine at the beginning, but after a few seconds passed, the energy got out of control. The sample cracking shortly after, before it exploded, opening a rift. It sure has unforseen consequences to work with the unknown, Calua thought as he got swallowed by the rift.
The rift closed as as fast as it appeared, leaving an empty room behind. That was the day, Calua dissapeared, leaving his broken parents and his legacy behind. A picture of him hang at the university and list of the many things he did in the name of knowledge and science. He left no notes though, as he kept it all in his head. That later changed though when he started living in Theologia. The experiments were also stopped after this accident. The studies not, but the experiments were deemed to dangerous for this time.
Calua remembered how he opened his eyes back then, shielding them against the sun. It was rather cold and windy. Looking around after his eyes had adjust, he found himself on a plastered road on the side of a mountain. Looking down, he could see the ocean and a harbor. This mountain was gigantic, the yordle thought. As he looked up he got a short glimpse of buildings at the top, before the clouds closed up again.
Wrapping his arm around himself, Calua decided to make his way, knowing that there was a town above. He guessed himself lucky that he had landed rather close to the top. He soon had to find out though, that the way to the top would be longer than expected. After a good six hours of walking, getting hungrier and thirstier, he thought he would end up collapsing on the road. Thought after another thirty minutes, he came upon a building, which was built into the side of the mountain. A sign with a bed and food showed him that this probably was an inn.
He was a bit reluctant but then decided to step in, he got greeted by a wave of warm air. Calua quickly closed the door behind him, hearing annoyed murmurs in a language he did not understand. Only a few faces looked at him, before he turning back to whatever they were doing. Calua looked around, seeing races he hasn't seen before, talking in a language has never heard either. He then walked to the counter, doing his best to climb onto one of the chairs. There he spoke up, trying to get the attention of the female behind the counter. She did not realize that someone talked to her until a male sitting close to her pointed to Calua. Of course he still did not know what they were saying. He tried using different languages he learned, but none seemed to work here. The yordle felt very uncomfortable with all these strangers around him who he couldn't even understand.
The female suddenly changed her expression. It seemed like she realized something and talked to the person who had pointed to Calua before. They laughed a bit before she dissapeared through a door behind the counter. After a few minutes she came back with a box which she put down in front of Calua. Opening it, Calua can see various kinds of jewelery, rings, necklaces earrings and bracelets. Looking a bit lost in thoughts, she rumages through the various things, before grabbing a plain looking silver bracelet, which she hands to him.
He hestitates, not taking it right away, as he did not know what this was or might do, but she went on holding it in front of him, nodding with a friendly expression. After taking it, he holds the bracelet in both hands, looking at it carefuly. He couldn't feel anything bad or wrong holding it, but of course that did not mean much. She then gestures for him to put it on. He couldn't tell if there were ill intentions behind all this or not so he waited for a bit longer, checking out the bracelet, before he decided to put it on. After shoving his hand through it, the bracelet suddenly changed size, so it better fit on him, which surprised him, already expecting something bad to happen, regretting his decision.
Calua then felt a short tingling sensation running through his body, before it dissapeared again. At first he was not aware of something, as he was still examining the bracelet, but after he calmed down slightly, still wary of this thing, he realized, that the things people were saying made sense.
The woman who introduced herself as the owner here then smiled, explaining to him, that these jewleries are enchanted so people who do not speak the language here are able to understand it. She laughed, after Calua told her, that he has no money to pay for that. She tells him, that these are given out by the administration of the town at the top for exact such a situation. And that they are given out for free. She also mentions, how it was been quite some time since someone here was in need of one of these. The owner tells him, that things like this happen quite a few times a year, that people tend to end in this world. This was an important information Calua thought, that he isn't the only one ending here.
They talk some more about this world, as Calua was in dire need of information. She talked about this world, various continents but mainly about this mountain and the town. He listened to all of this, nodding here and there, soaking in all these infos. It seemed it was the best solution to visit this town above. Maybe he could get more information there. He then mentions how he has nothing to give in return, as the only things he had with him were the clothes on his body. Senna, as the owner introduced herself as, tells him that she can help out with this, as it is part of her job.
She explained to him, that if he is good at something, he can find work in the town, as there is always need for various skills. While they talk, she was writing a letter, which she later sealed and handed to him, telling Calua, that it is a letter of introduction. It will get him a place to stay at for the time being, aswell as help to find suitable work.
Calua was not sure about all this. Why would someone be so kind to a stranger? Was their a hidden motive? She still did not seem like a bad person, but still... She could tell that Calua was rather uncomfortable and reluctant by just looking at him. Senna waited a bit and Calua then asked the question which was gnawing at his insides, why someone would be so kind to a stranger. She stayed silent for a moment, sighing heavily. She then told him, that she acts the way she does because nobody helped her back in a time where she was ina similar situation. Shaking her head, she tell him that it should be enough with that, as it was in the past.
After a moment of silence, Senna explains, that if he has some sort of skills, that there ir a high possibility that he can find work in the town. This can earn him money and connections. As long as he is good at what he does. With a dry laugh, she wondered if he by chance knows his ways with machines. She apologized and mentioned how some things were in need of repairs. To her surprise, Calua tells her that he actually IS quite knowledgable in regards to machines. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, telling him that if he actually CAN repair the machines here, she will get him some food and drinks aswell as a room for the night, as there were no more buses leaving for the top at this time. Calua just nodded, telling her that he can repair it if it is broken.
Senna just flicked her fingers, calling out to bring some food and drinks over. It did not take long, before Calua got served and Senna telling him to dig in. Ge hesitated for a mere second, before the smell hit his nose. He did not expected them to do something with the food at this point, so he tried it. It was delicious and he felt much better after that, but also very sleepy. Senna brought him to a room he could use. He feel asleep shortly after laying down, sleeping a dreamless sleep. It was good for him that he was as smart as he is, making logic a strong point of him. Because of that, he was not panicking and thinking things through instead. Washing himself and putting his things back on, he left his room, going back to the main room, giving a nod to the up already.
Walking over to Senna, he asks if it is okay to take a look at the machines now, after thanking her for the bed and the food. She says it is okay and it would be enough if he can look after the things she is about to show him. So she walked ahead, asking him to follow. And damn, she sure got impressed as she watched him repairing the machines and even improving some of them in a short amount of time. She tells him that these skills sure will come in handy when he gets to the town.
After Calua took care of the machines, Senna gives him her thanks and tells him, that she considers the food and bed paid for. She also mentions, that there is a bus leaving for the town soon. While they walk to the entrance, Calua gives her his thanks for helping someone who is a complete stranger. She explains, that of course it is her job, but that she is also able to tell if someone is agood or a bad person. It comes from experience in working with so many people she tells him. She then gets him to the bus, which already had some people in it, telling the driver whom she seems to know, that Calua is the only one. She wishes him good luck up there and returns to work, as the bus starts moving.
Calua watches the scenery, as the bus moves up the mountain, wondering how life would go on for him here. The journey, if one wants to call it that, did take not as long as he thought it would, stopping at a large shimmering gate. He watched the people showing their passport or letters to the gatekeepers. He then does the same, waiting for a reply by the gatekeeper. After he finished reading the letter, he hands it back to Calua and welcomes him, saying that the letter is fine and explains the way to the place mentioned by Senna. After that, with a nod to the control house, the massive gates open, showing Theologia, the Town Above in all her glory. It sure was a sight to behold and Calua's mouth stayed open as he walked through the gates, taking in the view which unfolded inf ront of him.
This was Calua's start of a new life in a new world. So much would change, so much he has to get used to. Some bad moments but so many more good would come, new people, real friends and much more.
