I guess I'll post some of my insect photos. This gives me an actual excuse to have an FA account. Insect photos will probably be accompanied by factoids about the subject.
So, pop quiz! Is this a butterfly, or a moth?
it's actually neither D: This is a "skipper", referring to the way it skips about in flight. My insects teacher taught us that the easy way to tell between a butterfly and a moth is the antennae. If it has little balls at the end of the antennae, is a butterfly, if not, it's a moth. After he said "Butterfly Balls" a few times, none of the students ever forgot :P
So then, what the heck's a skipper? Apparently the antennae are "hook-tipped", but I can't really tell from any of my photos. Basically its day-flying and has the butterfly balls, but it has more moth-like colouring and the muscular moth body.

I actually did a bit of PhotoShop touch-ups on this one on my TAs laptop. I won't be doing any more such editing until I gets my lazy ass some PhotoShop
