The reason my parents purchased the current printer/scanner we have is because the old one broke, yesterday I found the old one in our basement and decided to plug it in and see if the scanner on it worked better than the new one (yes I was quite bored that day) and surprise it does scan pictures much better-I've been using the piece-of-s@*! one all along for no reason, I curse myself for not trying the old scanner a long time ago.
