So this thing is a bit of a monster, and also a little old. Back in October I made a manticore adoptable with the sole purpose of selling it off (the maine coon one up in the left corner) but ended up falling in love with it and.... ah crap dang it...
This is kind of a mini collaboration between me

bowrll where we just tossed ideas back and forth for 2 weeks and giggled about it. Seel started posting the ones they drew around on Tumblr recently and such and people started asking questions so I figured I'd throw up the master sheet I had loafing around on my HD.
They aren't really an OPEN or CLOSED species or anything.... They were just for myself and my friends to have some fun with a mythological creature we all thought was SUPER NEAT. I don't mind if people want to make or have fun with them either. It was just a very small exercise in world building. Also uh... big colorful boba tails? I felt they were kind of a generic thing to begin with but HEY! Maybe you guys will get some enjoyment out of this way-too-bright ref sheet.

Idk how they could've been a closer species anyway haha, because manticores are actually a animal of legend. It'd be like having a closed species of dragons or something. I kind of never got how the closed species thing works either, since you can't just claim something is yours that stems from an idea you had. Like if Tolkien said hobbits were a closed species were something.
Oh no, I wasn't making a comment towards you specifically with that, apologies! I just kind of never understand people making a closed species of their own and not allowing people to use it. How would you enforce that, anyway?

I just really never understood how closed species work because you can't reinforce that. It's not legality issues or anything, (if I remember correctly, correct me if I'm wrong, you can't copyright or trademark a species, only the character or art you make) or because you can just claim it's something different and rename it.
I saw these cuties on Tumblr and I'm so glad that they're not a closed species! I've got to make one of these precious darlings!

Ahhh oh gosh so I was totally thinking about making a manticore or sphynx character and then I saw these....absolutely ADORABLE! Ugh cutest idea!
I was wondering if I could make something like this? I would probably use some similar features but not follow this species guideline specifically--would that be ok? They are just too cute and I really love the tail/flesh matching colors ahhh just awesome! <3
