Sadly I have never been in a game where languages were ever an issue, save the occasional temple engraved in untranslatable Infernal rune-script. Everyone speaks common, except when they speak draconic as an affectation. It's like a fantasy version of throwing French phrases into your speech.

Actually it happened once, for one session, before the DM apparently decided it was a terrible idea that only my character could communicate with a bunch of neutral goblins or possibly just forgot they didn't speak Common-ese. I don't understand why they would have changed it, though - I was a very reliable translator.
