This is great! Not many people give time to doing quills well. I love it! And the nose and feet and tail. Thank you for doing justice to both porcupines and an oft overlooked character in a great book. I'd definitely like to see more like this.

Yaaaaaay! Well you are an expert on the species then so I certainly do appreciate the comment! ^.^ I have to admit to never having read the book though, but a friend challenged me to draw an obscure Oz character and kinda found him in my searching. Would like to read them one of these years. :P

They can seem daunting by sheer size, but don't wimp out for the 'cliff notes' Gotta dig into the whole thing to get the real feel. I wonder if anybody's done the whole series on audio. I find that can make big books easier to handle by listening to them in the car and such. Although, the spelling makes for some of the humor... Okay, I ramble. Probably means its time for bed. We should talk more later. Look me up when I wake up.

Unfortunately, waiting for time just means there's less of it. Gotta find it when you can and squeeze what you want into every little bit.

That takes more self discipline than I'm capable of I'm afraid. :P I have like 2,700 FA submissions, for example, to go through still. Ugh.

Books are easy to sneak in. just carry one with you and read whenever you have to wait for something: In line at the bank? Read a page. Waiting at the doctor? Read a chapter. Someone else driving? Find out who killed the doctor. Break time at work? Escape to another world. The only challenge is choosing which book of trillions to start with.

BTW, got any IMs? This thread could get really long.

Very cute! I love Porcs. I work with one at the zoo. You do know that throwing their quills is a myth. They can't really do that.

They're HUGE though! At least the couple I saw at the zoo. A lot larger than I thought they were. I can't imagine people get stuck by them too often, though must hurt. Ouch.

I doesn't feel good! I have been poked, but not bad. The worst that happened was getting bitten. Ezzie told me she didn't want to be touched and she told me with her teeth. Yes. I do touch her all the time. You just have to know how to do it properly.

Youch. I'd give her all the space she wants! Hehe. :) I guess when they're not threatened they lay their quills down or something so they're more um...pettable.

I'm so glad that someone else read all of the OZ books and remembers Chiss. In that book
we also met the Shaggy Man and Tic Tok I think. It's been a long time.
