Remember that pic of Bessie discovering that her dress could parachute a la Princess Peach? Yeah problem with that is you really can't steer all that well. And with that she found herself soon in some riverside quicksand. Sure this was a predicament, but she wasn't about to panic. It just wasn't in her nature! She was no pushover "hoity toity", wasn't afraid to get dirty so long as it got the job done! And yet... this unwieldy dress was making escape incredibly difficult despite how strong she was.
Naturally enough, the PRR's scanners picked her up on the "Distress-o-meter" (The faculty have denied my request to change the name of said Distress-o-meter) and sent the armadillo over. for him, he was quite happy to see a familiar face again, but for her, it kinda made things a bit embarassing.
It took a while to pick up on this, but luckily training covers this sort of thing when someone needs rescuing, but doesn't want to openly accept help. So with keeping a watchful eye, he talked her through how to escape the quicksand, using the solid wall of ground to her advantage. It was a slow process, but eventually she got out just fine, albeit she was still a bit dirty from it all. The armadillo promised not to tell anyone of the embarassing situation, along with helping her get cleaned up and back home. But would she accept? (lazy cliffhanger here)

Either way, a ballroom dress would be a life-saving garment to wear in quicksand. Because between the time Bessie disappears into her skirt and the skirt disappears into the quicksand, she has a temporary air bubble she wouldn't have otherwise. That's extra time for Toughset to rescue her.
