Story for
wanderer-of-time featuring both our kobold characters.
(Story by Koviell Sashermasock)
So Zack spent a few hours trying to deceive people around until he gathered enough funds to pay for a good dinner. The two kobolds are now discussing in the corner of the pub.
"I think you could be ready for a real mission, or at least I'm sure you could do it right." Says Koviell before finishing his drink.
"What it is about?"
"Well, you see, there is a manor with a rich, very rich lady as his owner. If you could manage to bring back something valuable from there, the rogue's way."
"Something valuable?"
"Yes. I know that this place is well protected, at least on the outside. You'll have to find your way in."
"What if I get caught?"
"A good rogue never get caught, otherwise he's no longer a rogue."
"I see."
"Better get ready soon; at some point the guards aren't only around the manor, but inside too."
"How do you know that?"
Koviell grins. "I always got a trick."
About an hour passes. Koviell and Zack are on a house block near the manor.
"I'll keep an eye on you, but I won't intervene unless it's a real emergency. Consider that you're alone. Remember, thieves steal, rogues deceive. Good luck." Koviell pats Zack's shoulder before waving his cape and hiding in the alley. Zack was now alone.
Zack is waiting near the entrance portal. There is a guard there, waiting. He would need a wait to bring his attention somewhere else. By looking around, he finds a big rock. He picks it up and throws it over the fence, to land in the garden. "Miaou…" He hears, he may have hit a cat. In any cases, this did take the attention of the guard, who's going away. Now it's his chance. He sneaks to the door and picks the lock. The door is now open and he gets inside.
The lights are shut; it will be hard to see inside. What he can be sure, there is a lady singing inside the manor. Her voice is beautiful, charming; it must be that Lady. And now there is a sound. There might be someone nearby, but where? Zack hides under a couch and wait; someone passes by and then nothing. He waits some time there.
Was that Koviell? Maybe, maybe not. In any cases, this person is no longer there. Zack gets out of his hideout and check around; with the faint moonlight coming from the windows, he notices that he's in the living room. He moves silently into the next room; it's the kitchen. There is no other entrance from there, he goes back to the living room and explore the other rooms.
When he gets back to the hall, Zack notices something; the one that passed by left a few mud and dirt marks on the carpet in the hall. Apparently he went up in the staircase. Better be very, very careful from now. He slowly gets to the upper floor. The voice stopped singing.
There are three doors on the upper floor. There are voices coming from one of them. Zack gets close to it and pays attention to what the voices are saying.
- Then do so. I'm pretty sure the guards will appreciate that you tried to attack a lady of my rank.
- I didn't try to.
- Who do you think they will believe? Creature.
- … What do you want from me?
It looks like someone is in trouble, better look around while they're busy. Zack listens to another door; nothing comes from that one. The door is unlocked. He opens it up. It's an office. There are a few paints on the walls. Mostly human portraits and landscapes.
At the centre of the room, there is a desk with a glass case on it. When taking a better look, there is a diamond inside, a black diamond. It's flawless; it must worth a lot on the market. But there is a problem; stealing the diamond would be doing it the thief's way. Better leave it for now.
"And now get lost before I turn you to the guards!" Yelled a female in the other room.
There is a little silhouette that walked out of the other room and went down the staircase not long after. Zack hides behind the desk and wait. The lady then came into the room.
"You're still here? I told you to get lost. Now show yourself."
